Customers & Inventory π¦
The "Who" and the "What" of your business.
To create a Service Order in BinCommand, the system needs two things: a destination (Customer) and a resource (Inventory). Let's set them up.
1. Managing Customers
Your customers are the destinations on your map.
Creating a New Customer
Navigate to the Customers tab.
Click + New Customer.
Fill in the essential details:
Full Name / Company Name
Phone Number: Important for driver communication.
Billing Address: This is the default address used for invoices.
Delivery Address: The specific job site location.
π Crucial Note on Addresses: BinCommand uses the delivery address to place a pin on your visual map. Please ensure the address is accurate (including City and Zip Code) so the GPS coordinates are calculated correctly.
Customer History
Once you start operating, clicking on a customer's name will show their entire history: active rentals, past orders, and total revenue generated.
2. Managing Inventory (Assets)
This is where BinCommand gives you flexibility. You can manage your inventory in two ways:
Method A: Simple (Size Only)
Best for: Businesses that just want to know "How many 20-yarders do I have left?" but don't track individual serial numbers.
Setup: You don't need to do anything extra here! If you set up your sizes in the "Initial Setup", you are good to go. When creating an order, just select "20 Yards".
Method B: Advanced (Asset Tracking)
Best for: Businesses with GPS trackers or specific asset numbers painted on the bins (e.g., Bin #104).
Setup:
Go to Inventory > Assets.
Click Add New Asset.
Identifier: Enter the number painted on the bin (e.g., "B-101").
Size: Link it to a size (e.g., 20 Yards).
Status: Mark it as "Available", "In Maintenance", or "Rented".
π‘ Pro Tip: If you assign a specific Asset to an Order, you will know exactly which physical bin is at which customer site. This prevents the "Where did we leave Bin #45?" problem.
3. The "Yard" Concept
In BinCommand, any asset that is not currently assigned to an active order is considered to be in your "Yard" (Available).
Blue Pin: On the map, available assets (if they have GPS coordinates) or assets marked as "In Yard" appear in Blue.
